Beachcomber Christmas

We are going to make a tabletop tree that encompasses all things beach related. Picture this tree in your lakeside cabin or in your home on a blustery winter morning when all you want is to return to the warm sun filled beaches of summer.

Ornament

Materials Needed:

  • Shells
  • Twine
  • Hot Glue

This is one of the easiest ornaments. Cut about 9" lengths of twine, one for each shell. Tie them into a loop. Hot glue the twine to the shell.

Garland

Instead of the traditional garland we are going to simply drape a fishing net over one side of the tree.

Tree topper

Materials Needed:

  • Starfish
  • Wire
  • Wire cutters

For this topper you will need to attach the wire to the starfish and create a loop large enough to accommodate the highest branch of the tree. Position the starfish on the upper most point of the tree.

Tree skirt

Instead of the typical tree skirt, I have two suggestions. The first is to take a piece of canvas fabric and lay it over the base of the tree. You can add a couple of shells in the folds of the fabric.

The second is to skip the traditional tree skirt altogether and use sand. Just mound the sand up to hide the base of the tree. Stick some shells and small pieces of driftwood here and there.
