A few weeks back I wrote an article about how to celebrate the holidays with an eating disorder.
Holidays can be stressful even under the best of circumstances. To help yourself, this may be a good time to meet with a trusted friend/support person, or attend a self-help group, or, see a therapist. However, please note, for therapy to really have an impact, going once in a while, really won't be much help. Having an on-going relationship with a therapist is the better arrangement--the better a therapist knows you, the more refined the therapy will be.
Calling your local hospital or primary care physician's office for information may also be of help, especially if you are trying to find community support groups. Just do not panic. There is help available.
Happy Halloween!
P.S.
This is a good area to comment upon comments. :)
I really appreciate article feedback. It helps me to plan for future articles and adds perspective to the ones completed.
Regarding:
Eliza Pinckney: I found her to be a most interesting young woman. A number of teenagers played very important roles during our colonial days. I have plans to write about some others.
Martha Washington: Until I did this article, I had no idea how much she contributed to the American cause at the time. The more research I do about colonial America, the more apparent it becomes as to the major contributions of colonial, American women. They humble me.
I don't know if there are any Custis's still alive in Virginia. Maybe glancing through the phone book would be helpful. If anyone knows how to track genealogy, please drop a line. It is an area I hope someday to pursue.
Princess Diana: Her life's tale is a classic example of, "Riches do not make us happy." She had everything anyone could possibly want for in material possessions, but everything she needed, internally, she did not have. Her determination to make a life for herself while struggling with bulimia and the stressors of living with the Royal Family are inspiring.
The book Andrew Morton wrote about her is compelling, easy reading, and definitely a resource for anyone struggling with issues. Princess Diana was the "People's Princess" on multiple levels.
Captain Jones: Fate has interesting ripples. If Jones had landed at the mouth of the Hudson, how would've America developed? Instead, he changed his mind and the Mayflower headed back to Cape Cod. The book from which this story was taken from is very well written--absorbing. I couldn't put it down.
Helping Children Recover from Divorce: The comments were greatly appreciated, and I think they spoke for themselves.
Divorce is so disheartening, putting it mildly. Everyone involved is hurting, but the kids, who someday will be the nation's future really need the extra care. Again, thank you for sharing.
Moby Dick: This was a fun article to do--actually, I did a series on the whaling industry in America. I found it fascinating. Those large, graceful sea monsters, we owe a lot to.
Comments are greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for yours!
