I have the kind of life that is techno-centric. It's been this way for as long as I can remember (although I do prefer the low-tech way of things, sometimes I just have to get stuff done). Lately my world has been turned upside down as we've ripped out our kitchen and started right from scratch, right down to the sub-floor, which we also ended up replacing. It's been a real trip I can assure you. When you have no oven, suddenly the basic things like scrambled eggs are a delicacy. Especially when you haven't had them in months. And talking about the lack of a kitchen sink is best avoided.
My Internet connection is one of the things I really take for granted. When I want to find the latest news, I don't surf the stations or wait until the report works its way into what I want to know, I go right to the news sites. When I need to zone out for awhile, I can find puzzles to keep my thoughts still while my brain does other things for awhile. For inspiration, whether it's for writing, putting together a song, or making a quilt, Google is a fabulous resource.
So when my connection cacked out this past week, I was really lost. Consider that I can't find my oven mitts in my own house... so turning to what I have found to always be there, my 'net connection, only to find it missing was really a bummer.
But I'm back, as they say, and I've written a technology and quilting article that I hope you'll enjoy. It's about how you can use the Internet and your passion for quilting to connect with others, discover new techniques, get cool tools, and voice your own opinion.
And if you take nothing away from that article, you will still do well to remember that your 'net connection is not a given.
Neither is a kitchen sink. Or oven mitts, for that matter.
