Michelle Wie is Under Review
The PGA's US Open will have to wait another year for Michelle Wie . And it will be a long, much-anticipated wait. Wie just missed qualifying for the 2006 US Open at Winged Foot, after a terrific start in the PGA qualifier.
Wie's three straight bogeys in her second round at Canoe Brook in the 2006 US Open qualifier left her five shots short of becoming the first female to ever compete in the PGA US Open.
For ten hours and 36 holes, Michelle Wie was awe-inspiring. She drove the golf ball 300-plus yards; she drained a few 12-foot par saving putts; she kept thousands of gallery onlookers electrified with both her play and her glowing smile.
Michelle Wie is the most exciting player in golf, and she's not even on the PGA Tour.
We can only hope that one day this remarkable young woman will be.
Look out Tiger Woods; Michelle Wie is charging.
