Quit Soda

Soda has to be one of the worst drinks out there available to the public. Sadly it is every where. In some places it is more readily available than water! I have even heard about mothers who put it in their baby's bottle because it is cheaper than milk or formula. How awful is that! I believe that soda is a large part of a health epidemic that stretches across America and across the world.

I am sure some people might be surprised that I did not include milk as a good alternative to soda. Truthfully, I am not convinced that it is. Allot of what we know about milk is put out by the dairy industry. While I do consume milk myself, I do not drink it straight. Mostly because I hate the taste. Milk surely does have some positive qualities, and has been consumed by humans in many different cultures for thousands of years. It is not a necessary part of the human diet. Most of the nutrients in milk can be found in other areas of the human diet. There will be more articles on this issue in the future.

I was also on the fence about the reference to the 100% juice. I do believe juice is okay, in moderation. It can be a useful tool. So, use it in this way.

Water is truly the best drink. Get used to it. It is not boring. It is pure and refreshing. When I instituted the "water only rule" in my home my boys actually cried. It didn't take long for them to get used to it. Now, the only time I really ever think about it is when my kids have a guest and they ask "what do you have to drink?" and I say "water" and thy say, "what else" and I say, "water". They are surprised at first and then they get a glass of water. Humans adapt quite well. So, I hope that more people will institute this rule in their homes too.
