Beginning this week, we will examine one of the most recognizable and most important sites from Ancient History, the Athenian Acropolis. Home to the Parthenon, one of the most famous buildings in history, this limestone ridge in the center of Athens began as the political center of town, and evolved into a sacred religious area, home to temples and buildings in honor of Athena, the city's patron goddess.
