How to Make Earrings

I teach classes on simple jewelry design that does not involve soldering. I sometimes solder but I prefer cold connections. Cold connection refers to any manner of joining jewelry components that does not require heat - such as riveting, stapling and joining with wrapped wire.

I think in many cases cold connections are more interesting looking and most of the time you can fabricate an entire piece that is durable without the use of solder.

The Adobe textbook that I wrote for my last few earring design classes is being updated so I am providing a link to download the old 74 page textbook - free.

You will need the Adobe reader to download the book. None of the jewelry designs are copyrighted so you can make them to sell at craft shows if you like. However, the written word is copyrighted.

It gives complete instructions on how to make five pairs of earrings including the ruby hoop earrings and the chrysophase and iolite earrings. I also provide links to online vendors and the item numbers to buy all the raw materials.
