Amethyst in Wilkes Co., GA

Amethyst is the birthstone for February. Whether this beautiful purple crystal is your birthstone or not you can dig for beautiful 'grape jelly' amethyst at Jackson's Crossroads in Wilkes County, GA.

Grape jelly amethyst is so called because it's hue is similar to that of grape jelly. It is a strong, rich purple color with no brown tones.

If you are interested in digging for amethyst the next dig is scheduled for February 24, 2007 at the Hogg Mine in Lagrange Ga.
