Visit those Labor Day Antique Markets

For both antique dealers and collectors in the northern half of the northern hemisphere, the summer flea market season will soon be winding down, so as antiquers and junkers we need to get out there and do our bit for the economy. Sellers will be happy to make deals at the end of the season. Buyers will be overjoyed with their investments.

The last long weekend of summer in both the US and Canada is Labor Day weekend in Sepetember. This is generally before the kiddies return to school and is often a big one for open-air markets. Parking lots are jammed with cars, mini-vans and trucks. Patrons flood the gates with trolleys, pull-carts and empty carrier bags waiting to be filled with treasures.

There are antique markets everywhere on this last big weekend and internet searches will bring up scores of them in your area. And while you're looking for antique markets, search for big country auctions and yard sales that take place on this weekend.

Remember to bring sun tan lotion, drinking water and lots of cash, including your debit card. Vintage Clothing Show Survival Tips for Buyers has a more in-depth list of essentials for foraging.

Enjoy the hunt!
