Raising kids nowadays is tough. Teaching them in the classroom is also tough! I've been around kids my entire life, both in the classroom and as a parent, and I know that it's harder now than ever.
Should we blame the violence in the media? After all, kids are exposed to thousands of acts of violence on TV during a typical week.
Or what about violent video games? Or music videos that portray women as sex slaves, to be used and then thrown away?
How can parents and teachers help kids to grow up with social and emotional intelligence in a world that has become increasingly narcissistic?
Thoughts? Ideas? Arguments?
I'm a journalist-turned-counselor, and I would love to explore any and all of these issues. If it's not in my realm of knowledge or expertise, I will certainly research it and find out.
Talk to me! I'm definitely listening.
All the best,
