The Wii Fit isn't as fun as it was the first couple days. Now, it is a challenge to keep at it everyday. But I feel so great when I'm finished with my workout. And that is motivation enough.
I had a small setback earlier in the week when I was actually up a pound. So I stopped weighing myself everyday! Now that I'm down to stepping on the scale only twice a week, I'm starting to see results. I realize day-to-day weight can fluctuate due to water.
I've also increased my time on the Wii a little bit. At first, I was working out an hour a day with the program, but I could see that was going to be too much for me. Then I dropped down to only 30 minutes everyday. That's when I saw my one pound gain. A reader suggested I work out with Wii Fit 30 minutes per day twice a day. So I made a compromise. I now work out 45 minutes with the Wii in the morning (mainly yoga and strength and a little cardio) then I walk for 15 to 20 minutes on the treadmill later in the day. That seems to be working.
I also cut back on sugar, a real culprit in my diet. Instead of eating Frosted Mini Wheats for breakfast, I am eating Total, which contains almost half the sugar. Also, I'm eating plain yogurt instead of flavored. You'd be amazed how much sugar some flavored yogurts contain.
And I've found that I am sick to death of salads! I thought they were a great diet food...Not really. When you add deep fried chicken, creamy dressing, bacon and everything else, I might as well be eating a Big Mac!
So now, I eat Lean Cuisine mostly for lunch, and I am trying to watch that salt! I find if I stay away from canned foods, I reduce my sodium intake greatly.
My husband Mark is also working out pretty hard. We seem to be losing weight at about the same rate. But he does those balance games for 30 minutes and thinks he's really getting a work out! He loves to beat me at exercises. If I tell him I broke a record in the chair pose, he'll go do it just to say he got a better score!
