The 2010 MerleFest event, which is a fundraiser for Wilkes Community College and a celebration of “traditional-plus” music, will be held April 29–May 2, 2010, on the WCC campus in Wilkesboro, N.C.WCC
The eclectic talent lineup for the forthcoming music fest, which was founded in 1988 in memory of Eddy Merle Watson, will be announced at 8 p.m. (EDT) Oct. 22 during a one-hour special on North Carolina radio station WNCW that will feature music of some of the slated artists, said John Adair, artist relations executive for the festival.
Fans who live outside WNCW’s broadcast range may access the show online via its streaming broadcast. The full lineup will also be posted to the festival’s Web site (http://www.merlefest.org/) after the broadcast event.
“We are excited once again to work with long-time media partner WNCW to deliver the news about our incredible lineup for 2010, which encompasses everything from bluegrass and Americana, to old-time, country and roots music,” said Festival Director Ted Hagaman. The radio special will also feature songs from some of the performers
Festival fans are encouraged to visit the Web site and sign up for the MerleFest e-newsletter to find out more about additions to the lineup, the history of the event, how to volunteer, tips for visiting MerleFest and more. Fans also may follow the latest MerleFest developments on Facebook and Twitter, per the site’s instructions.
The MerleFest box office will open for 2010 ticket sales at 2 p.m. Nov. 10. Ticket purchases may be made online at http://www.merlefest.org/ or by calling 1-800-343-7857.
