Tennessee-based singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has managed to find herself amid some heavy-duty competition in this year's MTV-sponsored Video Music Awards--something no other country-categorized artist has done this year.
Specifically, Swift's up for "Female Video of the Year" for her You Belong with Me music clip in the 2009 VMA contest that's fan voted. Her running mates for the prize include Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Kate Perry, Beyonce and Lady Gaga.
Swift fans, at this writing, can cast their votes for the 19-year-old artist online at www.mtv.com/ontv/vma/2009/best-female-video/. The Mississippi native's also set to perform during this year's VMA event on Sept. 13, so mark your calendars, if you don't want to miss her even once.
In other "all things Swift" news, the platinum-selling performer also recently landed a part in the forthcoming Valentine's Day flick, a big-screen movie directed by veteran Garry Marshall (Pretty Women, Princess Diaries, etc.).
