Marty Stuart's Back for More on RFD-TV & Jason Aldean Wants to See You Dance

Grand Ole Opry member Marty Stuart has begun taping the second season of The Marty Stuart Show, which pays homage to the finest musical traditions of the genre. The program is broadcast at 8 p.m. (Central) each Saturday on cable’s RFD-TV, a rural lifestyle network.

"I love this show,” Stuart said recently. “It's everything that country music was designed to be and it is such a joy to be a part of. As I suspected, there is a world of people out there waiting on this kind of entertainment and the response has been off the charts."

Artists slated to perform on the second season’s shows include John Rich, Dierks Bentley, Gretchen Wilson, The SteelDrivers, Mel Tillis, Buck Trent, The Oak Ridge Boys, Chris Scruggs and Chuck Mead, Del McCoury, The Sundowners, Wanda Jackson, Duane Eddy, Kathy Mattea, and the Quebe Sisters, among others.

Stuart created the original series, which debuted Nov. 1, 2008, to help bring traditional country music to its fans on a regular basis. Each broadcast, in addition to special guests, features the sound of Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives band, as well as Mrs. Marty Stuart, country star Connie Smith, and banjo picker Leroy Troy.

“I love this show. It represents everything that I cherish about traditional country music,” Stuart has said. “I’ve fallen head over heels all over again with rhinestones, love songs, train songs, gospel songs, fancy pickin’ and the steel guitar. I’ve always believed God made Saturday nights for country music. This show is a natural for Saturday night.” (To watch clips from the show, visit www.youtube.com/user/MartyStuartVideos.)

Aside from taping his new TV show, the country-music historian’s latest and second photography book, Country Music: The Masters, recently was released. Also, for those music fans with XM Radio, Stuart’s weekly Country Music: The Masters program continues on, with its emphasis on exploring music that’s uniquely American.

Jason Aldean's She's Country Hit Inspires Dance Contest

In other country music news, Georgia son Jason Aldean’s camp is sponsoring a dance concert in honor of the hit singer’s latest single, She’s Country. Would-be entrants must be at least 13 years old and submit entries by the Feb. 28, 2009, deadline.

Contestants are encouraged to film either themselves or their respective favorite Country Girl dancing, goofing off, or whatever one deems appropriate to the new Aldean anthem. Creativity and fun is encouraged, but all entries must be rated PG to be considered for the top prize, a special-edition cowboy hat signed by Jason.

The winner of the contest will be announced March 2, 2009, on Aldean’s official Web page, which is the same site to enter the contest, submit video URLs and view the contest’s official rules. For details, please access the JasonAldean.com homepage.
