Cupit Records Introduces Country Newcomer Ben Gregg Via 'Radio Waves' Single

Country-music newcomer Ben Gregg will soon release his debut single, Radio Waves, from his forthcoming self-titled CD.

Although the album won’t drop until early 2010, the disc’s lead single is set to be shipped to country radio nationwide on Aug. 17 and available for digital delivery through Play MPE.

Written by award-winning songwriter/label chief Jerry Cupit, Radio Waves is an uplifting, positive song about the fact that you can only send your girl a song by request at radio, she can also send you one back and you can’t do that with an Mp3 player.

“Jerry had just returned from a visit to his hometown in Louisiana and wanted me to hear a song he wrote down there,” Ben said in an Aug. 10 press statement.”While he was playing it, I knew we had something there and I could hardly wait to get into the studio to record it. When I heard the final cut, I definitely wanted it to be my debut single.”

Born and reared in the Pacific Northwest, these days Gregg calls Gig Harbor, Wash., a suburb of Seattle, home. Fans, however, need not travel that far to spy the country artist, who may be seen there nights weekly on cable network RFD-TV’s Music & Motors series, where he performs Radio Waves, along with other tunes from his upcoming CD.

On the show, Gregg also participates in a NASCAR pit-crew challenge and is featured in several interview segments, wherein he discusses his music and background that includes growing up in a musical family, where he was inspired early on by his mother’s musicianship as a pianist and vocalist.

As a youth, Gregg recalls singing in quartets for years, along with his twin brother and two sisters. Additionally, he says, his biggest music influences include country greats Johnny Cash, George Strait, Barbara Mandrell and Brooks & Dunn, as well as Beach Boys and Chicago.

“Ben Gregg is not manufactured talent,” reports Cupit, president and CEO of Cupit Music Group. “He is talent manufacturing creativity. He plays and sings by ear as well as reads notes. He has an incredible range and smoothness in his voice making him a producer’s dream to work with.”
