Country-music recording artist Rhonda Towns, who’s no stranger to the modeling world, has teamed with Silpada Designs to serve as a celebrity model and spokeswoman for the company.
A talent on the Dawn Records roster, Towns donned the jewelry maker’s sterling-silver creations throughout this year’s CMA Music Festival in Nashville on June 11-14, 2009, where she performed at the Durango Acoustic Corner and greeted fans daily at her exhibitor booth.
Per a June 18 e-mail from Towns, the songstress confirmed she’ll wear Silpada Designs jewelry at all upcoming activities including photo shoots, public appearances and performances throughout 2009.
“I absolutely love fashion ... and jewelry,” Towns shared via e-mail. “Silpada Designs is special! It’s chic and their designs caught my attention last year when I was invited to appear as a guest in the Silpada booth at the CMA Music Festival-2008. Soon thereafter, I purchased pieces of my own … (and) asked Silpada Designs to allow me to partner with them. I’m thrilled to represent such a unique line of jewelry!”
Towns, who’s been featured in CMA Close-Up, Country Weekly, Billboard and Power Source magazines, among other publications, is a natural in the modeling world.
To date, she’s managed to combine her country-music career with work as a model, including runway work for RebaWear (Reba McEntire/Dillard’s Line) and in the Rhinestones and Roses Fashion Show, which is an event by in-demand country designer Manuel.
The first African-American country-music artist to appear on Black Entertainment Television, Towns also was featured on Today’s Country with Crook N’ Chase and has performed on CBS Phoenix-KPHO, at the 16th Annual International Country Music Festival in Zurich, Switzerland, as well as participating in a number of Country Thunder USA music festivals.
As for her new role with Silpada Designs, which credits itself as being the largest sterling silver jewelry home-party company in the U.S. and Canada, “Rhonda's image and personality are the perfect complement to the Silpada Jewelry line and she will make an eloquent spokesperson,” said Cori Kallenbach, director of communications for Silpada, in a recent press release.
As for her latest music news, Towns’ recently released an updated, contemporary remix of her current radio single. “Slow Rain.” The cut comes from her debut country CD, I Wanna Be Loved By You, which was produced by industry veterans Harold Shedd, Norro Wilson and Jim Cotton.
At this writing, the track’s in the No. 51 on the Music Row charts, No. 3 on the New Music Weekly chart and No. 1 on Real Country-Japan.
