Halloween!

When I was very young, I always went Trick-or-Treating in our neighborhood. I particularly remember one Halloween when my younger sister Laura was sick. I had to ask for extra candy at each house for her. Most people didn't believe me! Why they wouldn't believe an 8-year-old blonde girl dressed as Cinderella is beyond me; it was quite traumatic.

When I was in 6th grade we moved to the country and there was no longer a neighborhood to Trick-or-Treat in! My mother would give each of us a dollar and we could buy ten candy bars (this was a long time ago...) at the local Five and Dime store. Then on Halloween night we'd have a cozy family dinner and eat our candy.

Now we have dozens of little kids who come to our door every Halloween. I love to see the really little kids with their cute costumes; my favorite is one toddler who was dressed as a Hershey's kiss! You really should give out purchased, well-sealed candy for the little ghosts and goblins who come to your door. But you can make some treats for yourself and your family!
