Procedure, Function or Subroutine?

This weeks article Procedure, Subroutine or Function poses some intersting terminology questions. Not only that, but it digs into the history to see why these terms were important, and to whom they are still useful.

From a personal point of view, I tend to think in terms of procedural programming still, and talk about subroutines as a generic term whether I mean functions or procedures. Perhaps, though, that's just me.

Anyway, this article should help with those little misunderstandings and also as a way of compartmentalising your view of the programming world.
