New Year, New Paradigm?

Firstly, a slightly belated Happy New Year to all those who celebrate it at this time. I made a whole bunch of Resolutions as part of my own celebrations, some of them now already broken. A couple relate to blogging and article writing here, though, so I'll let you know when they kick in.

I recently discovered Extreme Programming (XP). I was reading some new software development paradigm article emailed to me, and came across some 20 terms I no longer had a handle on. These ranged from Agile to Zen (I kid you not), and I figured it might be time to take a look at XP in more detail.

Of course, once I'd learned all about it, I thought I'd share my research with you, in digested form. So, the resulting article covers the key principles, what's good about XP, what's not so good, and a little summary if you need some help selling it to management.

After you've read it over, you might like to reflect on how long it'll be in vogue. I predict we'll have another on or hands before the end of 2007. Let's see how I do. Perhaps it will be the one that I promote in my own book - Corporate Software Project Management - which I have called the augmented waterfall paradigm.

Once can only hope you read it here first!
