OK, so I woke up this morning to the news of the federal government's $700 billion bank bailout. My mind began to race. So I know that Americans are facing the biggest financial crisis since the Great Depression but I can't help but to wonder if this could have all been prevented. Maybe if we had taken care of each other instead of sticking people with mortgages they couldn't afford, depended on our own resources for oil, and maybe... just maybe monitored the financial health of our banks this would not be happening.
I am no financial anaylst by any means. All I can offer is my opinion. But something just seems fishy to me. My question is: if they can find $700 billion to bail out a bank why can't they find money feed the homeless, better care of our veterans, or fund the horrible public school system in this country?
For more information on the Wamu bail out check out this article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080926/ap_on_bi_ge/washington_mutual_future
Peace and Blessings!
