Why You Procrastinate - and How to Stop

Why do you procrastinate, especially since it increases your stress level and decreases your immune system, as well as your general enjoyment of life?

Procrastination is caused by several things: fear of success, fear of failure, wanting to be perfect, lack of motivation, anxiety, guilt, or unachievable goals. The thing is, procrastinators usually don't perform as well as those who start early (though I had a universtiy roommate who excelled regardless of how much effort she put into her papers and studies - but she was definitely an exception with an IQ in the genius range).

It's simply not fun to scramble at the last minute to accomplish your task, nor is it good for your health or relationships. The sooner you stop procrastinating, the happier you'll be!

For help overcoming procrastination, read How to Motivate Yourself. You might also find How to Achieve Your Goals in 7 Steps helpful.
