Sequoyah of the Cherokee

Sequoyah, a Cherokee, after being wounded and crippled in a hunting accident, found too much time on his hands. To fill the gaps and do something for his tribe he invented a Cherokee alphabet that was so simple even the children could learn it with little trouble. The article can be read at:
