The Breast Cancer 3-Day benefits the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. This year Breast Cancer 3-Days are being held in twelve cities throughout the United States. Seattle, Washington is slated for September 7-9, 2007. I encourage you to sign up! Not only will you have a philanthropic vacation, you’ll meet fabulous people (many are breast cancer survivors), you’ll get in great shape, plus you’ll get to see the Seattle area in a way that not many people have experienced, on foot!
Here are the highlights of the Seattle Breast Cancer 3-Day for 2006:
The Seattle Breast Cancer 3-Day for 2007 promises to be just as “scenic, varied and beautiful!”
There is a $90.00 registration fee for every walker. This includes everything you will need: all meals, snacks, drinks, tents, showers, towels, a mobile camp, and transportation (if you walking slowly, or are just tired a van will come by an “sweep” you to the next station). The Breast Cancer 3-Day folks have this down to a science; they will take excellent care of you!
Now here is the potentially daunting part (and no I’m not talking about having to walk twenty miles for three days in a row), each registered walker commits to a $2,200.00 fundraising minimum. Please, don’t let this scare you from participating in this truly awesome experience! I can tell you personally, that I have successfully raised this money twice for the Breast Cancer 3-Day. Not only will you have support in your fund raising quest from the 3-Day folks, but you’ll be surprised at how quickly a checkbook opens when you tell someone that you are walking sixty miles to help eradicate breast cancer. Best of all, once you register, you will be set up with your own high-tech fundraising page on the 3-Day site!
Oh, there is so much more to share. If I have peaked you interest go to Breast Cancer 3-Day for more details and some wonderful photos. I walked from San Jose to San Francisco, what a way to see California! Maybe I’ll see you in Seattle…
