It won’t be official until December 3, 2006, but it looks like the unbeaten Boise State University Broncos will get a Fiesta Bowl bid. On Saturday, November 25, 2006 the Boise State Broncos beat the University of Nevada Wolf Pack 38-7. On Sunday, the Broncos moved up three positions in the Bowl Championship Rankings (BCS) to the number eight spot. Boise State is undefeated and the Western Athletic Conference Champions.
“This team is worthy of a BCS bowl,' Fiesta Bowl president John Junker told the Broncos in the locker room afterward. ``You'll have to wait a week, but we'll be getting ready for you in the Valley of the Sun.’’ The Fiesta Bowl will be held on Monday, January 1, 2007 in Phoenix, Arizona. It is expected that Boise State will face the champions of the Big 12 Conference.
Alumni, students, parents, faculty and all of Idaho are going crazy with anticipation! There have also been numerous reports that Boise, Idaho travel agents are accepting names and even deposits for exclusive Fiesta Bowl travel packages. The highest reported travel package to the Fiesta Bowl is going for over $40,000.00.
