Preparing to be a Nurse?

What is a nurse? Nurses use the highly technical skills and scientific knowledge they attain through their education and experience in combination with a fine art of caring to care for the sick and infirm.

  • Nurses educate patients and their caregivers and families in the processes needed to improve their health status and acheive or maintain a state of wellness.
  • Nurses have to have the ability to understand math and science, as well as to communicate in the language of the area in which they work. This includes oral as well as written language.
  • Nurses are professionals who work side by side with doctors and other health care professionals to provide care and assistance. Nurses are not the hand maidens of doctors.
