Jessie Davis is a vibrant, beautiful 26-year-old woman, pregnant with her second child. Her recent disappearance is the latest case that has drawn media attention from around the world.
Police have not openly called her boyfriend, an Ohio police officer, a suspect, but in light of recent high profile cases, speculation is high that he is being investigated. No one has been charged and Davis has not been found.
Why are police so quick to investigate husbands or boyfriends? Statistics show that people are more likely to be killed by someone they know, particularly a relative or lover, than a stranger.
The Laci Peterson case is a perfect example. Police focused on her husband, Scott, almost immediately. Once Laci's body and that of her unborn child were found, police were able to link him to her death. Scott Peterson is now sittingon California's death row.
