Rhino Records are the premier music label for box sets, greatest hits, etc. representing artists such as Black Sabbath, The Cure, The Ramones, and even the legendary Frank Sinatra. Rhino are calling this their '#1 Priority for the rest of the year' and have said they are very pleased to honor P.O.D.'s Atlantic catalog. Early reports are that this will be a 17-track record. In addition to their hits, P.O.D. wanted to make this even more special, so they are including two brand new songs. One of the new tracks will be a never before released song from the Glen Ballard "Testify" sessions. The other new track is being recorded this week with producer Travis Wyrick.
Rhino set a November 21st release date (aka Thanksgiving week). P.O.D. have been taking meetings with various record labels. There are also discussions within P.O.D.'s management team about developing their own independent model. "We have been blessed to have many great years on a major label, but the idea of remaining free agents is attractive," said the band in a recent newsletter. "Regardless, we're having the most fun we've ever had as a band and are planning to write and record throughout the Fall. We have our eyes on a Spring 2007 release."
