The ceremony kicked off the first-ever USA National Games which is expected to draw over twenty-five thousand people for the week-long competition.
Hosted by actor Tom Arnold and actor Eddie Barbanell (The Ringer), the ceremony featured performances by Duncan and Hootie and the Blowfish, and included comments from Special Olympics chairman Tim Shriver, whose mother Eunice Kennedy Shriver founded the games.
"Everyone that ever lived on this planet was born with something to overcome - some are just more aware of it," said Bryan Duncan. "The organizers and team leaders, as well as the athletes, were made of a kind of human fabric you just don't see everyday."
Bryan Duncan and the NehoSoul Band leave for Europe this week, with festival performances planned in Sweden and Norway. Their most recent release, A NehoSoul Christmas, was released by Red Road Records and TAG Artist Group in September. They are currently working on a new studio album to be released later this year.
