Antwaun Stanley has been singing publicly since the age of four, and for the most part is has revolved around the church. It is this strong orientation that makes "I Can Do Anything" sound as sweet as it does. "Worship is a different level of singing," says Stanley. "You actually go out there and communicate with God; you don't just go out there and sing." He's singing for all the right reasons and it shows.
Bajada brought in power-producers J. Moss& Paul Allen (PAJAM), but they let him go his own way. The result is twelve diverse tracks that highlight both his buttery smooth vocals and his focused faith message. Stanley gets to show off both in the musically dramatic statement of faith "I Believe." Some tracks have a muscular urban feel ("Show Me" and the buzzy "Be Glad"), and a few are straight up pop ("Back Then" and a moving cover of Bart Millard's "Only Imagine"). Don't miss the standout track, "By Your Side," a sizzling duet with labelmate Cherise Miles. The album closes with a mellow interpretation of "The Lord's Prayer." There's a lot to like on this interesting debut; keep your eye on Antwaun Stanley.
