A recent response to my current poll brought an important issue to my attention. Many people that are preparing to sell there home have come to believe that open houses and advertising are a part of the standard listing contract.
Sales Agents offer these services in addition to the standard listing contract. It is important to discuss with your agent which services they will be providing.
Personally I offer advertising in a local Real Estate publication, however if my clients wish to have additional advertising there is a fee for that service. Also I offer open houses but rarely do them unless they are requested.
Being candid and open with your agent about your expectations of service will make the sale process more comfortable and satisfying.
