Welcome to Marine Biology

Earlier this year I was the feature writer for Fish and Insects, and some of the articles I wrote then could equally have been posted under the Marine Biology sections.

My very first article (Mattanza) was about Tuna fishing, and ended by mentioning some of the environmental impacts on sharks and dolphins. This article could easily have been in ‘Marine Conservation’. Similarly an article about Coral Reefs would have been equally at home under ‘Marine Habitats’. The Giant Triton, Cowries, Mantis Shrimp, Antarctic Silverfish and The Humming Toadfish could have been written for ‘Marine life', (as is my first one written here – Marine Mammals).

The more general section heading ‘Marine Biology and Oceanography’ will have articles about some of the physical aspects of the marine environment, the techniques used by oceanographers, phenomena such as plankton migration and the ‘alternation of generations’ found in many marine groups, filter-feeding as a way of life – etc..

As before I am keen to write the type of articles that you would like to see here, and to that end I would be grateful if you emailed me to add your ‘tuppenceworth’. I cannot promise to follow up every request that is made – but I will do my best!
