One of my aims is to 'educate' in a non-patronising way, and I am more interested in communicating concepts and 'ways of thinking' than just facts (interesting as some might be).

The ideas I am trying to 'get across' will often require the reader to look at more than one of my articles, so I thought it would be a good idea to 'spell out' my intentions at this early stage and tempt readers to look at a few articles in context.

I am also very keen to have readers who will participate and ask for articles about particular fish or insects, and if anyone should ask for something outwith my remit of 'Fish&insects' on Suite101, then I will respond on my personal blog site.

Believe it or not - I am not into this to make my fortune! I see it as a way of indulging myself by writing about things that enthuse me. (It might also improve my writing style a bit!).
