'Mattanza' seemed a good way to start, allowing me to introduce a little fish biology in a (hopefully!) interesting way. It also gave me scope to say something about fishing and point to a couple of conservation issues.
To address the 'Fish/insect' balance my next article will probably be about 'Silverfish' - a kind of 'play on words' since they sound like fish, but are actually primitive insects. After that I have plans to look at butterfly migration in France (where I live in summer), fishing for grayling in Yorkshire (where I live in winter), and the fascinating way that wasps have involved themselves with the evolution of fig trees.
I am very keen to enter into a dialog with readers, and will try to respond to requests for articles on specific topics. I also welcome comments and criticism about any of my articles.
