I started with the idea of writing about the many insects that are found preserved in amber. And, while that is very interesting, as is amber itself, I decided that there was far too much to squash into one short article. One specimen contains an Assassin Bug, and I just liked the name! When I found the 'Kissing Bugs' I was hooked, especially when I discovered that it was one of these that laid my hero, Charles Darwin, low.
I couldn't resist the Wheel Bug when I discovered that people actually keep this horrid little monster as a pet (and it also allowed me to get in a little 'plug' for my 'Silverfish' article ;-)
Maybe I'll come back to some other insects preserved in amber later. But to keep the fish/insect balance I will have a look at the Coelocanth next. (Unless I get distracted again!).
