If you get the chance to catch the Dew Action Tour or the X Games 12 keep an eye out for the kid with the dreadlocks. That kid will be eleven year-old Rastafarian, vegetarian, and skateboard sensation Nyjah Houston.
Nyjah's debut year as a pro has proven to be a memorable one. He has shown up on the pro scene as the youngest competitor in extreme sports and he's made a strong showing. Nyjah is fast on the heels of top park competitors Jereme Rogers and Ryan Sheckler (the previous "youngest" competitor in action sports).
Is it his age that is causing such a buzz? His standings in his debut year as a pro? The dreads? It may be the combination of all of the above but whatever it is, people are taking notice. Nyjah's name seems to be everywhere and videos of him in action are popping up all over the internet.
At 11 years of age, Nyjah can squeeze at least another 20 years out of his skating career. By the time Nyjah retires, competitors in grade school may be the norm.
You can catch Nyjah Houston in action at the following stops...
