In a word...maybe.
True, I have been focused on expedition racing. And, having only two articles under my belt, that makes for a high ratio of adventure racing articles.
In my defense, I have been up to my ears in research on the subject for a few months now. I began by researching an article on Robyn Benincasa that I wrote for teen girls. From there I was led to Primal Quest and some writing assignments that focus on specific races.
I will admit to being a huge fan of the sport. The skill level and determination of these people amazes me. These are not people who train for a year to do one race. They submit themselves to this grueling torture over and over.
And, since I feel I'm gushing I should point out that I am by no means an obsessive, stalking fan (-: Those of you I've interviewed are completely safe!
Some people may be asking themselves and some have asked me, "Why don't you do a race?" . Well, I'm a little on the...uhmmm..."fluffy" side. Two pregnancies and kicking cigs weren't kind to me. I've been inspired through all of my research to get back into shape. I've dusted off the bike, cleared off the treadmill/laundry-relay-station and given Weight Watchers access to my credit card.
Until then, I will continue to write. Please stick with me. I do have other topics within the world of extreme sports that I plan to cover. Of course, they may all be sandwiched between articles on adventure racing (-:
