Well, the end of another year is here.

As is the tradition, it is time to look back on the year. Big in 2006 is my look back at some of the moments in action sports that stood out. Granted it isn’t a comprehensive look at EVERY big moment of the year. These are the moments that stood out to me as advances in the sports and examples of the amazing determination of some people.

My personal favorite moment of '06 was being at Primal Quest Utah. It was hot and dirty (oh, and I was lost a lot!). But I had so much fun and learned a lot. What a great experience.

2006 was also my first year at Suite101.

I hope that everyone has had a great 2006 and has amazing goals for '07!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful day.

I also hope you got everything you dreamed of. I am now well-stocked in mountain bike and snowboarding gear!

Merry Christmas

I was shocked when I heard about Danelle Ballengee's recent injury. As the winter settles in here in the western states the number of people who become stranded in the backcountry has already started to increase. How shocking is it when a prominent expedition racer can land in a similar predicament?

I'm thrilled that Danelle is recovering and safe. I hope that there are no lingering effects from her injuries and that she can get back to training quickly.

I also hope that the lesson learned is that the unexpected can happen to ANYONE. When you're heading out to hike, run, ski or bike, let someone know where you're going and when you'll be back. Oh, and take a dog!

Be safe everyone!

When every other moment of my life has a soundtrack playing, why is it that I can’t use my iPod when I’m doing watersports or playing in the snow?

As it turns out, now I can. H2O Audio offers a waterproof housing for iPod and MP3 players. Now you can take your favorite music anywhere (warning- it is only safe to 10 feet below the surface of the water, so not intended for scuba diving).

When my box arrived in the mail I couldn’t wait to try it out. Sadly, it was late at night and so (I only admit this because we’re all friends) the first test involved the bathtub!

My review of the H2O Audio waterproof, is predominantly positive. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
