Do You Know Candy Harrington?

In writing about Accessible Travel, I have been pleasantly surprised by the imagination and energy of some of the field's well-known - and lesser known - experts and leading writers.

Today I want to tip the hat to Candy Harrington, the editor of Emerging Horizons, a magazine about accessible travel.

Based in Northern California, Candy is both a journalist and an advocate. Some of her seemingly boundless energy goes into making practical suggestions to the powers that be (wherever and whomever they may be) about how to make travel work for real people.

I noticed recently that Candy Harrington is a contributor to Wheelin' Sportsmen, a magazine I found engaging, entertaining and informative - despite the fact that I personally don't hunt or fish. She also has a new book coming out, 101 Accessible Vacations - Travel Ideas for Wheelers and Slow Walkers. Its stated publication date is 11/07 - right about now. I haven't seen it yet but based upon her past books and extensive writing career, I have high hopes for a very useful resource.
