Mario Andretti was a legend in his own right and his son Michael Andretti carried on the tradition. But when third generation Marco Andretti, at only 19 year old, was moved up to the Indy Racing League Series, many scoffed at the notion.
Marco Andretti won the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma at Infineon Raceway, becoming the youngest driver to win at this level since his grandfather Mario.
Marco Andretti stretched his fuel mileage as far as it would go en route to his memorable victory.
His teammate Dario Franchitti finished 2nd.
In Formula One news, Felippe Massa won the Turkish Grand Prix.
