My next article will cover a serious adult virus known as shingles. This adult outbreak is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which exhibits as chicken pox in children. The virus can lie dormant for years. In an adult, the virus can cause severe nerve pain, itching, tingling, or even numbness. Apparently, those who had the chicken pox are at risk for developing shingles. There is now a vaccine to prevent it.
