Lost in the Bermuda Triangle
I thought that I would start off my first article by sharing an account of a Bermuda Triangle disappearance with you. What makes the story of the Witchcraft intriguing is that she disappeared without a trace from about one mile offshore - within sight of Miami's city skyline and apparently no one saw or heard a thing!
The Bermuda Triangle is an area of the Atlantic Ocean encompassing Bermuda, Southern Florida, and Puerto Rico. Many planes and ships have disappeared in mysterious circumstances from the region over the years. Survival stories of strange encounters in the area have also added to the Triangle's sinister reputation. These accounts have included such elements as sudden turbulence in the water, strange fogs, glowing lights, and difficulties with the electronics systems and compasses on both planes and ships.
Many theories have been put forward over the years to explain these occurrences. These range from the logical to the stuff of science fiction. Some have suggested that the number of lost planes and ships is not out of line for a busy shipping area and that ocean currents can carry a vessel many miles away from the area of last known contact. Other theories involve underwater pockets of methane hydrate, time warps, and UFOs.
