A Merman and Bigfoot, Too!

This news item comes from the Caspian Sea. There have been several sightings over the past two years of a human-like amphibious creature. In March of this year, the crew of a fishing boat reported seeing what they thought was a large fish swimming parallel to their vessel. They then noticed that the "fish" had hair on its head and that it had arms instead of fins at the front of its body.

Dubbed the "man of the sea", this animal has been sighted both on land and in the water. He has been described as having dark hair (black or green) and a pale complexion. Witnesses have noted that his arms and legs are relatively short and that he has webbed fingers on his hands.

Some have speculated that this individual is one of a family of similar beings. Before you think this story is too far-fetched to be true, consider that this is not the first time this type of animal has been seen. In 1876, dead bodies of amphibious humans were washed ashore in the Azores. They surfaced again, so to speak, in Karelia (north of St. Petersburg, in Russia). Researchers did travel to the area to investigate further, but unfortunately, their findings were classified by the former Soviet Union.

Bigfoot also made the news this past week. Fresh footprints, measuring 80 cm x 60 cm (approximately 31.5 inches x 23.5 inches), thought to belong to this mysterious animal were discovered beside a stream near Kampung Mawai, in Malaysia. Local residents have also reported hearing a howling sound coming from the jungle recently.

On that note, this week's article is on the subject of Bigfoot and the discovery of the Skookum cast, which provided investigators with a partial body imprint to work with.
