Ghosts in the News

Motorists on England's Highway A22 have reported seeing an otherworldly figure in the wee hours of the morning. A young girl, described as wearing a beige skirt, dark top, and black boots, has been seen by several witnesses along the Caterham bypass.

In one instance, she was seen three or four times by a trio of flooring installers. The young men noted that she didn't have any facial features. Other accounts describe the young woman running across the road in a "distressed state". Police were called to the area, and despite the assistance of tracking dogs and a helicopter, no trace of the young lady in question has been found.

In another news story from Britain, workers in the BAE shipyard in northern England have reported machinery moving by itself, an "eerie presence", and unexplained shadows. The shipyard's chaplain will attempt to exorcise the ghost, said to be the spirit of a man who committed suicide on the property, in the near future.

A third item, from the United States this time, deals with Flemington, New Jersey's "haunted" court house. Lights have been turning on by themselves at night since work started on renovations to the building. Frank Bell, the county architect, blames the occurrences on the building's new electrical system, which is designed to shut off lights when the building is unoccupied. He stated that shifting air currents from the building's heating and cooling systems are likely tripping sensitive infrared sensors, which cause the lights to turn on.

Finally, this week's article will explain how to use a pendulum for predicting the future.
