Rock n' Roll was just a little sadder these past few weeks as the news spread around the world: Syd Barrett had died.
One of the original members of Pink Floyd, writer/guitarist Roger Keith "Syd" Barrett joined the band in 1965 and had been instrumental in their early success. Known for such titles as "Arnold Layne" and "See Emily Play", Barrett's influence resonated through the rock n' roll industry inspiring such notables as David Bowie, Paul McCartney and Jimmy Page. Although he left Pink Floyd just three short years later (1968) Barrett's style and flavor continued to shine.
Roger Keith "Syd" Barrett died on July 7, 2006 due to complications from his diabetes. He was 60 years old.
