I couldn't resist this one when I heard about it on the radio - a Little League coach in California was suspended this week - for losing his temper and blind-siding a player during a game!
We've all seen it - the parent or coach that can't quite control his temper during game - the one that yells, cusses, shouts and groans at every juncture. What kind of role models are we being?
I've heard that recently Canada has been airing public service announcements of children emulating the bad manners - and sportsmanship - of their parents. The States have almost the same ads running here. What a sad commentary on modern parenting that we should need these little reminders!
Anyone who has raised children can tell you that you can talk until you're blue in the face, but what really counts is what you DO!
The next time you're about to lose your cool, think about how you appear to the outside world - through a child's eyes. We all live stressful, busy lives, but we are here to provide assistance and joy to each other - not to add another stresser to an already sometimes overwhelming world!
