Barrry Bonds, Hank Aaron and 755 Home Runs.
This 2007 baseball season should be a real doozy. Opening Day will begin the final leg of Barry Bonds' assault on the all-time home run record. Bonds, who is one of the greatest players in history but who also seems to have been 'less than natural' for much of his great career, is rapidly approaching Hank Aaron's sainted record of 755 Career Home Runs. Bond's approach should be one of the most well-followed and important attacks on a major American sports record in years. Will baseball recognize it with major coverage and enthusiastic fanfare (a la Sosa and McGwire?), or will Commissioner Bud Selig hide away and grit his teeth as Bonds passes his former player and current friend? You better stay tuned for this upcoming moment: it will matter to baseball and baseball fans forever.
The 2007 Fantasy Baseball Season.
For some of you, the most important thing about Opening Day is that Fantasy Baseball finally begins. I have done my best to get as much fantasy baseball information, statistics, and player rankings for the 2007 Fantasy Baseball Season out there. Check out the current articles on the Top 100 Fantasy Baseball Players, the Top Fantasy Baseball Pitchers, the Top Fantasy Baseball First Basemen , Top Fantasy Baseball Outfielders and much, much more. You probaby have your draft this weekend, so check these out today. Or, if you are like me, you don't draft (or auction) until March 31st. Either way, time is running out, so keep up with these articles. If you have any questions about these and the soon-to-be-available Fantasy Second Basemen, Fantasy Shortstops and Fantasy Third Basemen, drop me an e-mail or start a discussion on the Baseball site.
I am very psyched for the upcoming season, both the real one and the fantasy version. I am interested to see how the Cardinals and Tigers will perform after winning league pennants last year. Without a strong starting rotation, it is hard to believe the Cardinals can get back to the Fall Classic. The Tigers need hitting, and if they don't get one more reliable bat, they will finish behind the Twins in the AL Central.
Team Baseball Previews and Issues for 2007:
Can the Yankees make it back to the World Series?
Can the Cubs avoid a century of World Series Futility?
Will Tom Glavine win his 300th game?
How soon will Craig Biggio blow by 3,000 hits?
Is Biggio a Hall of Famer?
Can baseball not screw up Cable TV Baseball, Please?
All of these questions will be addressed in 2007. So from Opening Day through the Fall Classic, I want you to watch baseball, baseball, baseball!
