This week was the birthday of Peter the Great. To honor this interesting man I wrote about the city he built, Saint Petersburg, in Russia.
I became interested in Russian history when in 1989, the remains of the Last Tsar and his family were found in Ekaterinburg. I was only slightly familiar with the Royal Family, prior to this event, but became almost obsessed with learning everything possible about them, and their Mother Land, afterwards.
Enjoy my first Historic Travel series at Suite101, The St. Petersburg Traveler.
