Generally speaking, I'm not one to get all upset about something like the recent terrorist plot that was shut down in England. I figure, if something happens, it happens. I can't spend my time and energy worrying about those "what ifs." However, I do think the additional "security" measures being taken that are resulting in hours spent at the airport, missed flights and a whole range of frustrations may keep me from booking flights in the near future. Unfortunately, I'm already booked on a flight through Heathrow at the end of August and am quite frankly dreading it.
First of all, as I recently wrote about, I have an entire scheme formulated just to get through the agony of a long flight. That's all been thrown out the window with the new rules regarding carryon luggage. Word is the authorities are already loosening those restrictions - I mean, c'mon, how long could they ban people from bringing water? But still, sitting on a plane for hours and hours on end is tiresome enough, but couple that with a few hours at the airport wading through tiresome and, let's face it, probably completely ineffective security measures and it's enough to make me stay put ... happily.
So, for me, I suppose it's not so much the terrorist plot that'll keep me away from traveling, but the counter-measures instituted.
