Germany has been a Western European hot spot for decades, but with the World Cup just around the corner, this land of beer and brats will be on fire. Luckily for all those procrastinators out there, it's not too late to book a room and enjoy one of the biggest sporting events in the world.
The online portal www.rooms-worldcup2006.com hooks up football fans from around the world with Germans willing to accommodate them. Because this service was specifically set up for the World Cup, rooms are available from June 9 to July 9. Also, the profits on the fees paid by those who rent out accommodations through this site will go to a foundation for youth soccer players led by German trainer Jürgen Klinsmann.
Access to the site and the ability to make reservations is free for football fans. You can search by city, price, type of accommodation, etc., and as of this posting, there were still lots of available rooms.
"The large selection of private accommodations available at www.rooms-worldcup2006.com shows that the World Cup motto, 'A time to make friends' is not just empty words, but is a flesh and bones reality," said Arndt Kwiatkowski, CEO of ImmobilienScout24, the company that runs the site. "Many of the people that list with us are interested not so much in the money, but rather in the opportunity for an intercultural experience."
So what are you waiting for?
