Sometimes You Hit a Snag

As I follow up on all the relatives in my tree, trying to find sources and references, I have discovered something quite vexing. I don't like having a huge tree filled with undocumented information, so I have been taking time to verify what I already have. I got in touch with a cousin, who provided me with the information on one section of my tree, the Church family from Cheshire, England.

We have a Thomas Church marrying an Anne Mainwaring. Through the Mainwaring family, I have countless royal and noble connections and an enormous section of ancestry. BUT as I tried to track down the references from this marriage, my cousin admitted that she had no sources either and in fact was unable to prove the connection.

I am going to lose years of work and thousands of ancestors if this marriage didn't occur. Research has shown that the Anne was have actually married a Lawrence Smith. But she may have married a second time, or Thomas Church may have married a different Anne Mainwaring (there were several).

So, this is my new priority. If these names ring any bells with you, feel free to let me know!
